Visit to the South Downs National Park
All-day, 11am-4pm
The APPG site visit, hosted by the South Downs National Park Authority, will provide an opportunity to see first-hand how Protected Landscapes are supporting nature recovery, climate resilience and sustainable rural economies. Transport and lunch included.
National Parks are increasingly at the forefront of developing practical, scalable solutions that deliver both environmental and economic benefits. With UK ecosystem services valued at £1.8 trillion (72% of GDP), and environmental degradation posing significant economic risks, this visit will highlight how partnership working and green finance are unlocking opportunities for farmers, landowners and communities. The programme will include:
- An award-winning river restoration project enhancing biodiversity and climate resilience
- A farming estate delivering landscape-scale nature recovery through Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) and Voluntary Biodiversity Credits
- A visit to an award-winning vineyard, showcasing farm diversification and local produce
Both events offer excellent opportunities to engage with key stakeholders, explore innovative approaches, and help shape the future direction of National Parks and National Landscapes.
